Thankfully, the Bible provides us with clear guidance on love.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

So, how can you know if your partner truly loves you?

  • They are patient even when things get tough. They’re not quick to anger and understand that every relationship requires time and growth.

  • They are kind in both words and actions, always seeking to uplift you rather than tear you down.

  • They are truthful and transparent, building your relationship on trust.

  • They protect you emotionally and spiritually, ensuring you feel safe and valued.

This kind of love isn’t selfish—it’s rooted in giving, understanding, and seeking what’s best for the other person.

If you’re seeking clarity in your relationship, turn to God’s word and let it guide your understanding. Ask yourself if your love reflects the love described in 1 Corinthians, and trust that God will guide you to the answers you need.
